Vantage Point Code Consulting has grown from Andrea's unique experience to understand and apply the Building Code from multiple standpoints/vantages.

Andrea began her building code journey with the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) as a Class 3 Building Official reviewing and approving building permits for complex buildings (commercial, institutional and multi family). She understands the importance of clear communication with building officials during the building permit application process and what the AHJ wants to see.

She then moved over to the code consulting world to broaden her horizons, including work in Vancouver and other jurisdictions in BC. Andrea assisted designers with all levels of projects, from conception to the final stages of construction. She understands the importance of detailed code reviews early on in projects to catch those red flags which can cause headaches down the road.

Andrea developed and taught three advanced Building Code courses for several years in Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Architectural Technologies program. Creating the courses from scratch and teaching advanced Building Code concepts from the ground up gave her invaluable experience translating Code language into information that everyone can understand and discuss.
